La Casita was founded in 2008 for the sole purpose of providing a place to empower women and give them the tools to overcome obstacles through enrichment programs.
All our programs and workshops have one common goal: to help the women of La Casita become valuable and respected members of their community.
We serve the community of Little Havana, which is one of the poorest areas in the City of Miami, Florida, home to many Cuban, Central and South American immigrants. Little Havana has a population of about 125,000. Many of the residents in the area are unemployed; lacking in formal education, basic language and occupational skills, and most significantly, permanent immigration status.
